REFLECTIONS
Experience
It was a really interesting task to work on, bringing my brand into life and building further from the work done in Brand Corporate Identity. I can explore several design styles and further hone how my brand could be presented best to resonate with the audience. Besides, this was my first time of preparing an interactive document with navigation links between pages, which allowed the addition of dynamism and interactivity to the presentation. The process not only honed my design skills but also deepened my understanding of creating impactful and user-friendly brand materials.
Observation
One of the most challenging things in doing this project was to keep the overall design of the brand guidelines in perfect harmony with the identity of my brand. First, I did a very simple and rigid design, but then, by experimenting with different styles, I was able to develop a layout that is truly indicative of my brand's essence. The other important part of this process involved the comparing of various layout samples, helping me to review the flow of the content and ensuring that the visuals stay engaging and diverse. This allowed me to come up with a design that is representative of my brand but cohesive and visually appealing when reading.
Findings
While trying to create some variety in the way information is laid out across the chapters, I learned to hold onto a consistent visual identity for my brand. Too much variety, or even the slightest inconsistency, may disturb the flow of a book and make reading annoying. One of the main concerns for me while undertaking this exercise was to balance visual variety with brand consistency, so that the design was engaging but the presentation wasn't seamless and unified.
