Project 2 | Shooting practice & Editing

INSTRUCTIONS

TASKS

Exercise 1: Production shoot

In this task, we were to film seven scenes from the film "Everything Everywhere All At Once". Our class divided into three groups of ten persons each. We each had our own part during the session. After filming the video, we were instructed to edit it in a movie trailer manner with colour grading.

Below are my group members, and the last right column has highlighted our crew part; My role for this task is Art Director. Besides that,  I do help with lighting and lifting the main production camera equipment as it was too heavy.

Exercise 2: TikTok/ Insta Video

For this exercise, we were tasked with creating a vertical Instagram/TikTok video. We had to draw inspiration from current trending reels and then infuse our own creative ideas into the concept. Following that, we had to shoot the video according to our proposal.

Proposal :

Once the proposal was completed, I developed the concept for my content and filmed all the video clips using my phone. Mr. Martin suggested using CapCut for editing the video.

I had a lot of fun recording and editing. It was a wonderful learning experience for film set positions and procedures. Working closely with my team, we were able to communicate and work successfully, making the entire experience even more fun. The most difficult aspect of editing was choosing the correct soundtrack, but after that was done, everything else was straightforward. Colour correction and grading needed some experimenting, but determining the perfect tone shortened the process. Overall, I am happy with how my video turned out.

TikTok/ Insta Video

I had a fantastic time working on this project. Although I had frequently watched short videos before, creating one myself made me understand their popularity. The toughest part was coming up with the concept, but once that was settled, everything went smoothly. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable experience, from planning and shooting to editing, and I’d be thrilled to do it again.
